We invite you to celebrate passion, fearlessness, and magic on the dance floor! Join us as we continue to inspire and uplift through the power of movement.
This year, we are presenting DanceWeekend Unplugged – a casual studio edition of the festival at our home at City Dance Corps with workshops, performances, dance parties and more!
In this new intimate edition, the vibrancy of Toronto’s diversity of dance continues to thrive, bringing exceptional artists and audiences up close in the dancer’s sacred space – the studio!
Featuring 50+ talented local dance artists and innovators sharing a feast of dance styles including Indian Classical, Middle Eastern, Korean, Contemporary, Brazilian, Central Asian, Street Styles, Salsa, Pow Wow (and everything in between and unfolding!). Experience an event that reflects the beauty of dance in all its forms.
Join us in-person at our home at City Dance Corps for an intimate and immersive dance experience.
As always, DanceWeekend’25 is affordable and accessible to dance lovers !

4 – 7 pm – DANCE WORKSHOPS
4 pm Kathak Fundamentals with Sukriti Kathakaar|
This session will introduce participants to the grace, rhythm, and expressiveness of the art form, covering essential elements such as Tatkaar (footwork), Hastak (hand movements) and Chakkars (spins)
5 pm Brazilian Dance with Newton Moraes
Delve into the diverse world of Brazilian dance including Orixás, Samba, and street dance, while benefiting from Newton’s extensive experience. With live music from percussionist Walter Maclean.
6 pm Salsa with Matt Grand and Taylor Hunt/ City Dance Corps
Immerse yourself in the energy, passion, and sheer joy of Salsa dance, where each step is a celebration, and the music becomes your partner. All levels
7pm – 9 pm DANCEWEEKEND DANCE PARTY WITH DJ Grouch
Featuring dance performances (seating available), mini dance workshops, facilitated dance animation, prizes and your chance to hit the dance floor! Bring your dancing shoes!

Alan Faigal is back with his popular All-Ages Dance Party to get you grooving with dance performances from 2:00- 2:30 (seating available), a fun-filled guided dance party, prizes and more! Bring your dancing shoes!

3:30- 6:30 pm – DANCE WORKSHOPS
3:30 pm Limón Technique and CCDT Repertoire with Steph Harkness/ Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre
Steph Harkness, will lead a warm up based in the principles of breath, weight, and suspension. Dancers will learn an excerpt of CCDT repertoire, BYTIYE, choreographed by Mississauga-born, NYC-based Jennifer Archibald.
4:30 pm Pow Wow Bootcamp with Classic Roots presented in partnership with The Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance
Pow Wow Boot Camp is a mix of Pow Wow dance and cardio fitness. It teaches traditional steps while keeping the energy up with house, techno, and Pow Wow beats. A great way to move, sweat, and connect with culture.
5:30 pm Metaphors (improvisation/contemporary) with Lucy Rupert
Metaphors is an exploratory movement class open to all movers using imagery and ideas from nature and cosmology.
6:30 pm – Sufi Whirling
Sufi Whirling performance and short workshop by Emod Vafa
